Being a typical American, the Asian tea culture was not a part of my up-bringing, though it was enchanting. I was doing a work period at Tassajara Zen Monastery near San Francisco, when an interesting gentleman came to call. He offered a class in Chinese Tea, Gong-Fu Style. After the first class I was hooked. I took up the custom of serving tea gong-fu style to my guests, and realized that other people enjoyed this tea, too, and that they needed a good source for it. We began selling our teas at the Saturday Market in our home town of Crestone, Colorado. About the same time, I also began making traditional style meditation cushions for Buddhist communities around the Southwest. The practice of drinking tea compliments the practice of meditation beautifully. These practices have been treasured for many centuries, and we are honored to share them with you. Most of the teas we sell come from the high mountains of China. We have an importer who has been building solid relationships with tea growers and merchants for over 20 years, and who holds the highest standards for soil quality and working conditions on tea farms.
